Description

Hi, I'm new here so sorry if I filled some forms out wrong

var steps = 0
$('div#BB_overlay').css({
	position: 'fixed',
	left: 0, top: 0,
	width: '100%', height: '100%',
	zIndex: 10000
}).animate(
	{opacity: 0.5},
	{duration: 1, step: function() { steps++; }}
);

steps on my computer:

firefox: 20
safari: 10
opera: 6

similar script in prototype/aculous has more than 20 fps on all browsers

You do realize that it's duration: 1000, right? duration: 1 is just 1 millisecond - which is probably why it's having problems :-)

For me, I'm getting anywhere from 50-80 fps in all browsers.

Sorry, my mistake. Of course I meant 1000ms

I have just repeated my test and it seems this time it's the same with jQuery and aculo.us
