replaceWith looses data

I think I've encountered a bug using replaceWith. Example scenario:


(function(){
 var img, cloned, cache, swapCache;    

document.write('<html><head></head><body><img></body></html>');

first  = $('img').first();
second = $('<img>').data('foo', true);
cache = second;

swapCache = function(){
    var image = $('img').first();
    
    console.log(image.data());
    image = image.replaceWith(cache);

    console.log(image.data());
    cache = image;
};

swapCache();
swapCache();

})();

The expected output'd be:

Object {}
Object {}
Object {foo: true}
Object {foo: true}

However, the actual output is:

Object {}
Object {}
Object {foo: true}
Object {}
