jquery.multiselect slow on IE8 and IE9

Description
Hi, I'm running into performance problems in IE when using the multiselect library. The IE8 hangs literally and IE9 is sluggish. The number of values that I'm trying to populate are roughly 7000.
I would be glad if I could get any help on this by providing me a link or another library that I can use.
There is no problem what-so-ever on Chrome and Firefox.
