Description
I have this code :
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-W3CDTD HTML 4.01 TransitionalEN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>PROJECT DASHBOARD</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.16/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
$('.log').ajaxStart(function() { $(this).text('Triggered ajaxStart handler.'); alert('xxx');
});
$('.trigger').click(function() {
$('.result').load('ajax/test.html');
$.ajax({ url: 'http://localhost:49286/QuickBaseWebServices/Service.svc/GetJobsForProject?callback=?', dataType: 'json', data: {projectNo : '106020'},
success: function (jobs) {
alert('Success');
}, error: function (response,error) {
alert(error); alert(response); var r = $.parseJSON(response.responseText); alert("Message: " + r.Message);
alert("StackTrace: " + r.StackTrace); alert("ExceptionType: " + r.ExceptionType);
} });
});
});
</script>
</head> <body>
<div class="trigger">Trigger</div> <div class="result"></div> <div class="log"></div>
</body> </html>
The ajax start is not fired at all. If I change to jquery version 1.4.2. is working perfectly.
Regards, Mihai

The same issue is happening with JQuery Version 1.8.3. below is the sample code which ran with Jquery 1.8.3
$.ajax({
type : 'get', url : 'tasks.json', dataType : 'json', });
$(this).ajaxStart(function(){
console.log("ajaxStart");
}); $(this).ajaxStop(function(){
console.log("ajaxStop");
});
when you run this code... for the first time the ajaxStart event will be ignored and direct ajaxStop event will be called.. but for all other successive call's the ajaxStart event is also getting triggered...
Basic Investigation based of JQuery 1.8.3 version :
below code inside trigger function is avoiding ajaxStart event to get executed and this is because for the first time when we trigger ajaxStart event its not present under jQuery.event.global Array list..
jQuery.event.customEvent[ type ]) && !jQuery.event.global[ type ] ) { |
No jQuery handlers for this event type, and it can't have inline handlers
return; }
Thanks, Hrishi

Hallo Mihai,
I am also facing the same issue.. its a valid issue and exits in 1.8.3 as well.. JQuery Team Please fix this...
Thanks for taking the time to contribute to the jQuery project! Please provide a complete reduced test case on jsFiddle to help us assess your ticket.
Additionally, be sure to test against the jQuery Edge version to ensure the issue still exists. To get you started, use this boilerplate: http://jsfiddle.net/FrKyN/ Open the link and click to "Fork" (in the top menu) to get started.
