Script doesn't work in SOME browsers

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: anonymous
Priority: undecided Milestone: 1.next
Component: unfiled Version: 1.6.1

Blocking: Blocked by:

Description

On your 'browser compatibility' page, it is stated that jQuery would work perfectly in Firefox 3.6+ and IE (forgot the version)+. Though, the following script only works in Opera (current version, no others tested) and Safari:

$(document).ready(function() {

$("*").hide(0); $("*").fadeIn(600);

$("a").click(function(event) {

event.preventDefault(); $("*").fadeOut(800, function() {

setTimeout(function() {

location = event.target;

}, 600);

});

});

$("form").bind("submit", function(event){

event.preventDefault(); $("*").fadeOut(800, function() {

setTimeout(function() {

event.target.submit();

}, 600);

});

});

});

I'm not entirely sure if this is my fault or if this is a bug, though I thought you might wanted to know.

Thanks for taking the time to contribute to the jQuery project! Please provide a reduced jsFiddle test case to help us assess your ticket! (in its current form, your code is incomplete).

Additionally, be sure to test against the jQuery Edge version to ensure the issue still exists. To get you started, use this boilerplate:  http://jsfiddle.net/rwaldron/da3nM/. Open the link and click to "Fork" in the top menu.

Because we get so many tickets, we often need to return them to the initial reporter for more information. If that person does not reply within 14 days, the ticket will automatically be closed, and that has happened in this case. If you still are interested in pursuing this issue, feel free to add a comment with the requested information and we will be happy to reopen the ticket if it is still valid. Thanks!

Please follow the  bug reporting guidlines and use  jsFiddle when providing test cases and demonstrations instead of pasting the code in the ticket.
