Skip inserting whole fragment, if possible

Description

If only one node needs to be inserted, just clone/insert that directly, rather than the whole fragment.

Please follow the  bug reporting guidlines and use  jsFiddle when providing test cases and demonstrations instead of pasting the code in the ticket.
