Hover events not triggered from 'area' elements in IE6

Description

The hover event is not recognized on id's on area elements within image maps in IE6. Example found here:

 http://tenpl.us/image_map_jquery/

The link is broken, please reopen with a test case if the problem still exists in 1.3.

Please follow the  bug reporting guidlines and use  jsFiddle when providing test cases and demonstrations instead of pasting the code in the ticket.
