Datepicker not working with jquery 1.2.3 + FX

ui.datepicker doesn't work with jquery 1.2.3...it doesn't appear though the div container is rendered (hidden) on the page. when fx are disabled this behavior disappears. I know fx is alpha, but wonder if there is a fix.

Please follow the  bug reporting guidlines and use  jsFiddle when providing test cases and demonstrations instead of pasting the code in the ticket.
