IE 6 removes whitespace, eg. when using append

Description

The problem is documented here:  http://www.quirksmode.org/bugreports/archives/2004/11/innerhtml_and_t.html

There is also a workaround. I wonder if it may be possible to include this workaround in jQuery.

I added a test to SVN.

Please follow the  bug reporting guidlines and use  jsFiddle when providing test cases and demonstrations instead of pasting the code in the ticket.
