i feel like it takes up too much space on the subpages, specifically on API.

Something smaller would be better for those browsing the API, or at least the very least, a close button that saves across sessions.

Alternatively (and I like better), a smaller banner in that big empty space at the top left of the page would be better for end users and still get keep the visibility
