somebody added a bunch of stuff to the end of the "Types" section. It is rather confusing.

That page is obsolete and will be removed soon. The replacement is here: http://api.jquery.com/Types/
Please follow the bug reporting guidlines and use jsFiddle when providing test cases and demonstrations instead of pasting the code in the ticket.
